Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I pay TPA Dues and an Annual Registration Fee to Surgent's?
The TPA is a separate association run by parents to support the Girl's Competitive Gymnastics Team. We do not receive funding from the Surgent’s gym and therefore the fees are completely separate.

What are the TPA Dues used for?
TPA Dues increased for the 2024-2025 season to $55 and are per athlete (no longer per family). These dues are used to help cover costs associated with running the TPA (i.e. Insurance, Tax Preparation, software, etc.) In addition, this fee also helps to fund the End of Season Banquet / End of Year party and other events hosted by the TPA.

Why isn't my report time posted?  Why does it take so long to get my report times?
Report times are provided by the hosting gym.  The TPA does our best to obtain and post report times in a timely fashion.  The TPA will post the times as soon as they are given to us.

Meets are listed for the entire weekend. Will the meet be both weekend days?
No, your gymnast will compete only one day, but we do not know the day or time until we receive the report times from the hosting gym so it is best to block your weekend until then report time is known. The TPA will update the website and TeamSnap with meet dates/report times as soon as we receive it.

How are age groups determined for meets?
There are no specific age groups for JOGA. For all meets including regular qualifier, Invitational or State Championship meets, age groups are at the discretion of the meet host. The meet host should choose age groups that most evenly distribute gymnasts based on the enrollment for a particular meet. The host club may consider using birth date ranges to determine age groups. For example, if there are 30 level 6s, create 3 age groups of 10 gymnasts each called Jr, Mid, and Sr, with the youngest 10 in Jr and the oldest 10 gymnasts in Sr. Ages at States are the age on the Monday following the State Meet.

How do I get refunded for a meet fee if my daughter can't compete?
Surgent's Elite follows the JOGA policy for meet fee refunds. We will make every effort to obtain a refund on your behalf but we can not return any money unless it has been refunded by the hosting club.  All refunds will be completed after competition season concludes for all levels.  See below for JOGA's Refund Policies

JOGA Refund Policies:
  • For Any Sanctioned Qualifier or Invitational Competition -  an athlete/club is entitled to a refund (due to injury only) provided that the request was emailed up to three weeks in advance to the meet director with an attached note from an orthopedist. After the three week deadline it is at the discretion of the meet host to determine injury refunds.
  • States Previews - Refunds will be available up to 3 weeks before the first session of the competition (Doctor’s note is required).
  • States Competition - To receive a refund for the state entry fee you must submit a doctor’s note on official letterhead or prescription paper to the JOGA Board no later than 48 hours before the beginning of the first session. Non-medical issues will not warrant a refund.
